Belgian Carcassonne Championship

Rules

Format

  • One day, live, with physical tiles. Basic Carcassonne, 1 vs 1, 30 minutes per player.
  • Swiss rounds (six in recent editions): every round pairs players with the same number of wins; nobody meets the same opponent twice. A bye counts as a win.
  • When a game ends in a tie, the player who started the game loses.
  • Tiebreaks after the Swiss rounds: wins, Buchholz minus the lowest opponent score (BH-1), Buchholz (BH), Sonneborn-Berger (SB), point difference, total points.
  • The top 8 play a knock-out: quarter-finals (1–8, 4–5, 2–7, 3–6), semi-finals, a final and a match for third place. The higher-ranked player starts.

Registration

Registration runs through the Belgian Boardgame Federation (FBJS), which hosts the championship in Sint-Katelijne-Waver.
